This lecture presentation analyses common law remedies in contract. It is split into two parts. The first part considers the nature of damages: specified damages, unliquidated damages, expectation damages, reliance damages and restitutionary compensation. In the second lecture the issues of causation, remoteness and mitigation are considered.

Lecturer – Anne Street: Experienced lecturer and examiner of Law of Contract, Law of Property and Law of Trusts on LLB and GDL/CPE courses. Former Senior Lecturer at BPP, she currently teaches at SOAS, University of London and the University of Law. In addition, as visiting lecturer for the University of London International Programmes she has delivered regional revision seminars in London, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Ghana.
